Teacher Gifts!
It is almost the end of the school year, man they fly by!
As we are all getting ready to close another chapter on yet another school year, we should all take the time to say thank you to those teachers that have really made a difference or gone the extra mile for our kids! Great teachers make our world a better place and are so important in the lives of our children now and in the future world to come.
One gift that we think is really nice for a teacher are seeds! Just as they help our children grow, we can give them something to plant and grow for themselves for the summer months! We have a great collections of the wonderful Botanical Interests seeds at the shop and great ideas for you on how to put it all together or we can handle it for you!
Fresh flowers are also an excellent choice and can really brighten up their workspace. The mood lifting benefits of recieving beautifully designed floral arrangements is evident on the face of the reciepients when we deliver. We think the delivery person has the absolute best job at Mountain Flowers of Aspen!
Whatever you decide the best accent for your teacher gift is a personal note from you and or your child thanking them specifically for what you value in them! Say thank you sooner than later as we would like to lift their spirits now, not on the last day!

Mother's Day Flowers
Mother's Day started in 1914 (99 years ago!). The 1st Mother's Day was proclaimed by President Woodrow Wilson to be the second Sunday of May.
Moms love flowers! Especially peonies! I think every woman loves a peony. We always have our fingers crossed that the peonies will make it in time for Mother's Day. We had such a cool spring here in the mountains this year and lots and lots of late snow! The rivers will be able to fill up and our mountain meadows will be greener because of it! We were thrilled to have some for Mother's Day in some great colors, like hot pink, coral, red and pale pink and white. We sent out gorgeous arrangements with idelandic poppies, rannuclus, tulips and viburnum. We are so happy to have coral charm to work with!
Barbara Lynn Bloemsa is the winner of our Mother's Day bouquet!
We hope you all have a wonderful Mother's Day!

Flowering Branches = Spring
Quince are the next flowering branches to become available. They come in white and pink and there are rare red ones that never seem to make it away from the coasts. The quince have spiky thorns so handle carefully and they open us and hold for a decent amount of time. Plan ahead with them so that they are open when you need them to be their prettiest. They are here from now until about Mother's Day. They look really beautiful with french tulips and lilies for a sleek and clean long lasting arrangement. As with all flower arrangements, use a floral preservative and change the water regularly. Giving a fresh cut every few days can also extend the life of all flowers and branches.
Flowering Forsythia Branches
This time of year here in #Aspen, CO, spring is a way off for us. We have many snow storms ahead of us. So when the flowering branches start to become available we embrace the little bit of the outdoors that remind us that it will be spring here once again! The forsythis branches are the 1st to start, followed by quince and then other like cherry as the season progresses. Give the branches some time to open if you are planning an event. They open slowly at the beginning of their season and then faster and faster near the end of their season. By Memorial Day they are all prett much gone. So enjoy them between now and then.

Citrus in winter
In January, thoughts of spring being on the way start to enter my mind as we survie the uber cold days here in the Rocky Mountains in Aspen. We take down our trees, make new year resolutions and clean out the house a bit. Citrus scents are perfect this time of year as they symbolize fresh and clean. I ran across this citrus wreath that is a pretty and festuve way to bring some floral citrus into your home for January. We can create citrusy arrangements for your home as well! Spring flowers are in in great oranges yellows and greens. Things like acacia, mimosa , tulips, daffodils, freesia. Join in the fun of celebrating sunny citrus in January!
